Principal Electrical Design Engineer

HSB Technical Ltd is a specialist recruiter within the Power & Propulsion, Shipbuilding, Shipping & Energy and Aerospace sectors. We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Electrical Design Engineer to join our team based in Gateshead.

The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing project documentation, creating design concepts, and producing detailed design documentation. They will also liaise with Purchasing for equipment procurement and with Production to resolve design documentation issues.

The ideal candidate will have a degree in Electrical / Marine / Instrumentation & Controls Engineering and be proficient with E-Plan, 3D modelling and simulation platforms. Experience with control and automation software would be a distinct advantage.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Develop and maintain electrical design documentation, including basis of design, detailed functional design specification, and FAT, SIT and SAT procedures.
  2. Create design concepts and produce detailed design documentation, including electrical schematics, general arrangement drawings, and 3D models.
  3. Liaise with Purchasing for equipment procurement and prepare RFQs and technical procurement specifications.
  4. Collaborate with Production to resolve design documentation issues and create as-built drawings.
  5. Conduct start-up, commissioning, factory acceptance testing, and site commissioning site integration and acceptance testing.
Requirements:
  1. Proficient with E-Plan, 3D modelling and simulation platforms.
  2. Experience with control and automation software would be a distinct advantage.
  3. Degree qualified in Electrical / Marine / Instrumentation & Controls Engineering related discipline.
