Voxconsultants is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Ecology Centre Manager to lead our team in delivering a high-quality programme of environmental education, events, and volunteering. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the Biodiversity Action Plan, managing the Ecology Centre as an education and visitor centre, and ensuring effective day-to-day management of the facility.
Key Responsibilities- Supervision and Management: Supervise and manage a team of Nature Conservation Officers and Nature Conservation Apprentices, including allocating tasks and providing guidance and support.
- Ecology Centre Management: Manage the Ecology Centre as an education and visitor centre, promoting nature conservation and sustainable living, and ensuring the centre's opening times meet customer needs.
- Facilities Management: Ensure effective day-to-day management of the Ecology Centre, including facilities management, bookings, maintenance, security, and health and safety.
- Nature Reserve Management: Oversee the management and development of the borough's Local Nature Reserves and other nature conservation sites, reviewing their management and maintenance.
- Volunteer Programme: Develop, coordinate, and promote the volunteer programme, supervising volunteers and creating new volunteering opportunities.
- Community Engagement: Engage with the community to promote the work of the service, including representing the Council and Greenspace at events and meetings.
- Project Management: Manage projects to improve the nature reserves and other wildlife sites, ensuring effective resource management and community engagement.
- Experience: A minimum of 2 years' experience of managing nature reserves, parks, or other open space, with experience of supervising and managing staff or volunteers.
- Knowledge: Knowledge of a Council's duties around biodiversity and the role of urban nature conservation in delivering wider social objectives, including biodiversity policy and legislation.
Voxconsultants offers an initial 3 to 6 month ongoing contract with the opportunity to extend, with PAYE via Umbrella, Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.
