Student Support Mentor

We are seeking dedicated and passionate individuals to become part of our esteemed student support team.

The selected candidates will collaborate closely with a curriculum team (e.g., Animal Care or Media/Music) to enhance both student engagement and their own understanding of the subject matter.


Key Qualifications:
  • Proven experience working with youth and an understanding of the challenges they face.
  • Strong communication and organizational abilities, along with proficiency in IT for administrative duties; teamwork is essential.

Responsibilities:
  • Utilize your problem-solving skills to positively engage with students, establish targets, and assist them in making informed decisions.
  • Collaborate with EHCP students, especially those with High Needs; parents; and other stakeholders to facilitate social interactions, monitor students' SEMH, make referrals to the College Nurse, and enhance educational outcomes.
  • Act as an advocate for students and refer them to external services as necessary.
  • Work in conjunction with the Safeguarding Team to monitor EHCP holders.
  • Assist students in attending their classes by helping them navigate barriers to attendance and integration. This may involve accompanying them to lessons to understand their challenges and aiding them in developing independent learning strategies.
  • Support students in enhancing their communication skills through one-on-one and/or small group sessions to promote their wellbeing and overall student experience.
