Company Overview: Our client, a prominent contractor specializing in water and civil engineering, boasts extensive experience in executing exceptional projects throughout the UK. They are currently seeking to hire a Lead Cost Consultant with a background in water projects to enhance their team.
Role Overview: As a Lead Cost Consultant, you will report directly to the Project Commercial Manager (PCM) and be responsible for the financial and cost oversight of a project or a series of projects from initiation to completion.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain a strong commercial awareness within the integrated delivery team, offering financial support to both management and on-site teams.
- Ensure operational activities are conducted to manage costs effectively, maximizing value while minimizing future liabilities, and upholding the necessary standards of quality and safety.
- Collaborate within an integrated delivery team to present commercial challenges and propose actions that foster a high-performance environment.
Estimating and Procurement: Work alongside the programme area estimating team to guarantee that accurate estimates are provided, aligning with project scope and accounting for risks and opportunities. This includes necessary data analysis and integration into the procurement system.
- Oversee subcontract management in accordance with contractual obligations, ensuring compliance with all communications, payments, early warnings, compensation events, and maintaining up-to-date contract files.
- Engage closely with the procurement team, Construction Manager, and Project Delivery Manager (PDM) to formulate and monitor procurement strategies.
- Regularly visit project sites to ensure the team is informed about allowances and outputs, providing constructive challenges to achieve superior performance, managing change control, and escalating issues as needed.
Qualifications: Candidates should possess an Engineering Degree or equivalent qualification (HNC or HND) along with relevant experience in the water sector.
