Cyber Security Analyst - West Midlands

Role Overview:

The Cyber Security Analyst is responsible for supporting the Information Security Manager in safeguarding the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the information assets and systems of Stonegate Group.

This position requires a technical expert who will evaluate security policies and controls for their effectiveness and appropriateness in relation to the security risk profile. Candidates should possess experience in Cyber Security and information security, and ideally hold a professional certification or be committed to obtaining necessary qualifications.

As part of the IT Operations team, the Analyst will ensure that the organization is shielded from Cyber threats, is prepared to respond to incidents, and can recover effectively while adhering to a robust cyber security management framework.

Safeguarding digital assets from unauthorized access is critical, and the Analyst will document risk mitigation strategies proactively to prevent data breaches.

As a security expert, the Analyst will conduct research and organize ethical hacking initiatives to identify vulnerabilities within the infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Utilize information security risk assessment methodologies to provide expert advice and guidance.
  • Conduct threat assessments for infrastructure and applications to ensure that adequate technical and non-technical controls are in place.
  • Document information security risk assessments to identify issues or risks that need to be communicated to senior management for remediation or formal risk acceptance processes.
  • Support project delivery with security risk assessments and ensure alignment with the technology change framework, confirming that solutions adhere to relevant security principles.
  • Identify security gaps and advise on the design of new controls and processes to be implemented by IT, Business, and third parties.
  • Assist the Information Security Manager in developing penetration testing requirements, engaging with third parties, and managing security engineering to address identified risks before implementation.
  • Interpret and develop Stonegate Group's security policies, standards, and baselines, collaborating with project teams to ensure secure solution delivery.
  • Conduct periodic internal reviews of systems to identify compliance gaps that require escalation.
  • Contribute to the creation of detailed metrics and reports based on information security risk analysis to mitigate risks effectively.
  • Engage with the business to raise awareness of information security risks, ensuring informed decision-making regarding technology and implementation choices.

Required Skills and Experience:

Essential:

  • Extensive technical knowledge of cloud security technologies, including Microsoft Defender, Azure Sentinel, and Endpoint.
  • Understanding of email and web gateways.
  • Familiarity with general infrastructure, particularly Windows and Microsoft environments.
  • Experience in delivering security-focused projects within set deadlines.
  • Proficiency in vulnerability scanning tools such as Qualys, Tenable, and Nessus.
  • Experience with Service-Now tool.
  • Strong documentation skills, including the ability to produce technical reports and process documents.
  • Ability to work independently and communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Knowledge of infrastructure solutions, firewalls, and routers.
  • Understanding of GDPR/Data Protection regulations.
  • Familiarity with Cyber Security frameworks, such as NIST, ISO27001, and CIS.
  • Eligibility to work in the UK without sponsorship.
  • Ability to influence senior stakeholders on security and information risk matters.

Desirable:

  • Experience in the hospitality or retail sector.
  • Awareness of PCI DSS.
  • Degree-level education or equivalent practical experience.
  • Relevant security certifications.
  • Knowledge of Governance, Risk, and Compliance.
