Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Product Developer to join our team, bringing expertise in leather goods and a passion for creating exceptional products. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing leather goods from concept to final product, working closely with suppliers to source materials, and collaborating with the research and development team to create and refine product samples.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop leather goods, ensuring they meet the company's high standards of quality and craftsmanship.
  • Source and procure materials, hardware, and other necessary components, adhering to design and quality specifications.
  • Create and maintain technical drawings, specifications, and design documentation to facilitate communication with the production team and other stakeholders.
  • Stay up-to-date with market trends, consumer preferences, and industry innovations to inform design and development decisions.
  • Collaborate with the production team to ensure timely delivery of products, addressing any technical issues that may arise.
  • Contribute to the management of product costs by selecting appropriate materials and optimizing production processes.
  • Work closely with design, marketing, and production teams to ensure alignment on product goals and timelines.
  • Maintain accurate records of all product development activities, including material specifications, sample requests, and production timelines.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A strong understanding of leather materials and manufacturing processes, ideally with a minimum of 3 years' experience in the leather goods or fashion accessories industry.
  • A proven track record of working with international suppliers and manufacturers, with knowledge of sustainable and ethical sourcing practices.
  • Experience of using design software, such as Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and CAD.
  • Experience of quality control processes, ideally in leather goods production.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to work under pressure and across all levels of seniority.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to adapt to problems as they arise.
