About the Position

We are excited to announce a newly established role for a Head of Procurement Operations. In this position, you will provide essential support to our Senior Procurement Manager in overseeing the daily functions of the department. While our team operates from a central location, we welcome applicants from across the region who are willing to travel to our main site on a weekly basis.

Your Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and execute long-term procurement strategies for expenditures within our operations.
  • Directly manage a team of 4 staff members, including administrative personnel and seasoned Senior Category Leads.
  • Cultivate relationships and lead negotiations with suppliers and stakeholders, ensuring a balance between service quality and cost-effectiveness.
  • Analyze data from the Purchase to Pay system to identify efficiencies within our operations.
  • Ensure all contracts comply with statutory obligations, health and safety regulations, and relevant company policies.
  • Organize regular team meetings and training sessions to assess workload distribution and discuss process enhancements.
  • Embrace a culture of continuous improvement within the procurement services provided.
  • Facilitate training for the procurement team to ensure they are equipped to perform all job functions effectively.
  • Assist the Senior Procurement Manager with various initiatives and project work, and act as a deputy when necessary.

What We Are Seeking:

This role is ideal for an individual with substantial experience in procurement, preferably holding a CIPS qualification or equivalent experience, and seeking a supervisory or senior-level position.

  • Demonstrated experience as a Category Lead in a comparable role at a supervisory or senior level.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in a procurement capacity.
  • CIPS qualification is desirable; however, candidates without this qualification will be expected to pursue it with our support.
  • Strong negotiation skills, both verbal and written, are essential.
  • Excellent decision-making and communication abilities.
  • Capability to build and maintain robust internal and external relationships at senior and executive management levels.
  • A valid UK driving license for travel as required.
  • Proficient IT skills, particularly in MS Excel and Word.
  • Experience with procurement systems is advantageous.
  • Full UK working rights are required.
