About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team at Parkinson Gray Associates. As a key member of our Mechanical and Electrical Design Team, you will play a crucial role in delivering high-quality design solutions for a wide range of projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review project enquiries and develop feasibility studies for mechanical systems.
  • Conduct site surveys to assess existing building services systems and provide concept designs and costings.
  • Develop initial feasibility designs to full detailed designs for successful projects, leading the mechanical and electrical design team as required.
  • Calculate HVAC loads, electrical consumption, flow rates, pipe sizes, and other relevant parameters.
  • Liaise with controls engineers to agree control philosophies and assist in creating descriptions of operation.
  • Ensure mechanical designs meet agreed project budgets.
  • Assist in preparing equipment schedules, equipment selections, and supplier quotations.
  • Prepare design and specification packages for handover to the Projects Team.
  • Attend project meetings internally and with clients as required.
  • Resolve problems and issues on site as they occur.
  • Prepare documentation for Operation and Maintenance manuals.
  • Support customers post-installation and answer queries.
  • Conduct post-project evaluations of key lessons learned.
Requirements
  • Experience using industry-standard software packages such as CAD, Hevacomp, and IES.
  • A solid understanding of mechanical engineering and building services.
  • Minimum of a Degree qualification in Building Services, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Worked towards Chartered Engineer status.
  • Strong technical experience essential.
