About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Senior Clinical Specialist Speech and Language Therapist to join our team at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our Speech and Language Therapy Service, you will play a vital role in providing expert clinical leadership and expertise in the assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and management of complex communication disorders in children.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide high-quality, specialist speech and language therapy services to children with complex communication needs, including assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and management.
  • Lead and manage a team of Speech and Language Therapists, providing clinical supervision, guidance, and support to ensure excellent patient care and outcomes.
  • Develop and implement clinical policies, procedures, and guidelines to ensure best practice in speech and language therapy.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including medical, nursing, and allied health professionals, to ensure seamless care and coordination.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of research, audit, and evaluation activities to improve patient outcomes and service delivery.
  • Provide expert advice and guidance to colleagues, managers, and other stakeholders on speech and language therapy matters.
Requirements
  • Recognized Speech and Language Therapy Qualifying Degree or equivalent.
  • Registered Member of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists.
  • Postgraduate courses/training in communication difficulties associated with voice, complex airway, and head and neck surgical interventions (Adults and/or Paeds).
  • Health Professions Council license to practice.
  • Basic level dysphagia competencies.
  • Training in clinical and student supervision.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
  • Post-accreditation Master's Degree.
  • Formal Leadership Training.
  • Experience in student clinical supervision.
  • Experience of interdisciplinary team working.
  • Experience of using informal and formal speech, voice, and language assessment techniques and tools for children across a range of age groups.
