Job Title: Air Import Clerk

Freightserve is seeking an experienced Air Import Clerk to join our team in Egham, Surrey. As an Air Import Clerk, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth importation of airfreight shipments.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide exceptional customer service and operational handling to clients
  • Liaise with internal and external teams to ensure client and company expectations are met
  • Generate import customs entries while ensuring compliance with HMRC obligations
  • Ensure all external temporary storage facility (ETSF) movements are handled in-line with HMRC regulations
  • Assist with administration tasks within the department, including job costing and invoicing for the import team
  • Monitor and collect duty/tax payments made via FTS
  • Demonstrate excellent communication with customers, agents & suppliers via phone and email
  • Undertake airfreight import operations, ensuring receipt of bookings, arranging customs clearance, airline liaison and collection & delivery of cargo to final delivery point
  • Organise import bookings with overseas agents
  • Complete credit checks on accounts in-line with company policy
  • Ensure arrival notifications are promptly dealt with and keep stakeholders updated throughout
Requirements:
  • Strong customer service background, confident personality, with previous experience within Airfreight operations
  • Working knowledge of Import customs clearance within airfreight
  • Time management and communication skills
  • The ability to prioritise and to pro-actively deal with situations and use initiative
  • Ability to work independently as well as blend well with a friendly and effective team
