We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Support Specialist to join our team at Second Step. As a Support Specialist, you will play a vital role in delivering person-centered support to clients who are on a journey to recovery.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement individualized support plans to meet the unique needs of clients.
- Provide one-to-one support to clients, including regular check-ins and goal-setting.
- Facilitate group activities and workshops to promote socialization, skill-building, and community engagement.
- Collaborate with colleagues to ensure comprehensive support and care for clients.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of client progress and support provided.
- Identify and respond to client needs, including crisis situations and risk management.
About Our Accommodation-based Services
Second Step provides a range of accommodation-based services, including our High Support Accommodation Service. Our services are designed to support individuals with complex needs, including mental health, housing, and social care needs.
Person Specification
- Numeracy and literacy skills to GCSE level or equivalent.
- IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to use email and the internet.
- Knowledge of support needs of individuals with mental health needs.
- Knowledge of risk and safety issues, particularly when working with individuals with mental health, housing, and other needs.
- Minimum of one year's experience working with individuals with mental health needs.
- Experience of supporting individuals with multiple needs, including mental health, homelessness, and substance misuse.
- Experience of assessing and managing risk, as well as support planning.
