About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Tissue Viability Nurse to join our Specialist Nursing team at East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust. The successful candidate will have a minimum of three years post-registration experience and a good understanding of pressure ulcer prevention policies and pathways.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide expert assessment and treatment planning for patients with complex wounds across all ELHT and Blackburn with Darwen hospital sites and within the community.
  • Work under the guidance of the TVNS and in conjunction with the multi-disciplinary team to provide a high standard of skilled care in the field of tissue viability.
  • Provide specialist knowledge and advice to colleagues and patients in the multi-disciplinary environment.
  • Teach and support staff in the trust in relation to all aspects of tissue viability.
Organisational Responsibilities
  • Ensure compliance with trust policies, procedures and clinical guidelines.
  • Promote people's equality, diversity and rights.
  • Continually monitor standards of care and assist in the improvement, participate in benchmarking, audit and research.
  • Record activity and input data to allow reports to be generated to demonstrate the activity and outcomes within tissue viability.
Professional Responsibilities
  • Preserve confidentiality in line with the Data Protection Act, access to Health Records and Consent for Treatment.
  • Maintain active registration and revalidation on the professional register with NMC.
  • Follow the NMC professional code of conduct.
  • Maintain up to date skills, knowledge, understanding and awareness of professional issues related to nursing and the specialism.
Person Specification
  • 12 Months post-registration experience.
  • Registered Nurse RN Adult branch.
  • Experience in managing patients with tissue viability needs.
