Role Overview:

As the Senior Media Relations Officer, you will spearhead media initiatives aimed at sharing impactful narratives about our programs and the positive impact on youth and adults involved in Scouts. You will collaborate closely with journalists nationwide, from local outlets to major news organizations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement comprehensive media relations strategies that align with our organizational values and enhance the Scout brand.
  • Provide exceptional service to media representatives, ensuring they receive accurate and timely information while mentoring junior team members in media inquiries.
  • Proactively pitch compelling stories to secure media coverage that highlights the Scout brand.
  • Assist in managing public relations responses to potential incidents that may affect our reputation, including on digital platforms.

Candidate Profile:

  • Proven experience in media relations, with the ability to identify newsworthy opportunities related to our work.
  • Strong organizational skills and a proactive approach to communication and collaboration.
  • Flexibility to work outside of standard hours as needed to engage with media and volunteers.
  • Ability to remain composed in high-pressure situations, particularly when addressing reputational challenges.
