We are currently seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join our team at a leading special school in Devon. This unique setting offers a picturesque campus with access to a forest school, woodland walks, a bike trail, and a swimming pool, creating an enriching environment for both students and staff.

The Role

  • Classroom Leadership: Provide effective whole-class instruction during teacher absences and support teachers during planning and preparation time.
  • Personalized Support: Assist in tailoring the curriculum to meet the individual academic and personal growth needs of each student.
  • Safety and Engagement: Implement school policies, including safeguarding measures, to ensure a safe and supportive learning environment for all students.
  • Inspire Learning: Engage students through innovative teaching methods that foster a love of learning and encourage active participation.

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • Qualifications: Hold a Level 3 or 4 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools, Level 4 Diploma in Childcare and Education, or equivalent qualifications in nursery work or childcare.
  • Skills: Demonstrate excellent communication skills, patience, empathy, and a proactive approach to supporting diverse student needs.
  • Experience: Previous experience in an SEN setting or working with children with additional needs is highly advantageous.
  • Team Player: Collaborate effectively within a team environment, contributing to a positive school culture and supporting colleagues as needed.
