Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Research Assistant to join our team at the University of Birmingham. The successful candidate will have a strong background in research and a passion for contributing to the creation of knowledge.

Main Responsibilities
  • Conduct research activities within an established research programme and/or specific research project.
  • Design and develop appropriate manufacturing and fluids dynamics systems relevant to the development of an advanced Lab-On-A-Chip as a medical device for applications involving cell manipulation and control in medical robotics.
  • Work within specified research grants and projects and contribute to writing bids.
  • Analyse and interpret research findings and results.
  • Contribute to generating funding and licensing or spin out deals with demonstrated commercial success.
Key Skills and Qualifications
  • First degree in area of specialism and normally, a higher degree relevant to research area or equivalent qualifications.
  • High level analytical capability.
  • Ability to communicate complex information clearly.
  • Fluency in relevant models, techniques or methods and ability to contribute to developing new ones.
  • Ability to assess resource requirements and use resources effectively.
  • Understanding of and ability to contribute to broader management/administration processes.
