Cleaning Operative

Join the City of Edinburgh Council team as a Cleaning Operative and contribute to maintaining the cleanliness and safety of our properties.
About the RoleThis is a key role within our Facilities Management team, responsible for delivering a vital cleaning service across our estate. As a Cleaning Operative, you will be a valued member of our team, working to ensure our properties are safe and clean places to work or learn in.
Key Responsibilities- Empty litter and recycling bins
- Clean all surfaces, internal glass, floors, furniture, fixtures, and fittings within a group of buildings
- Clean all sanitary areas, toilets, and showers, and replenish washroom consumables
- Perform emergency and reactive cleaning as required, such as removing graffiti, body fluid spillages, and accidental spillages
- Care for and clean all equipment used in carrying out the above duties
- Other tasks as may reasonably be required that relate to the role, including supporting cleaning tasks across other buildings where required
To be successful in this role, you will need to demonstrate our Behaviours of Respect, Integrity, and Flexibility. You will also need to be able to work independently and as part of a team, and be able to communicate effectively with colleagues and stakeholders.
This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check.
