Job Overview:

The role involves delivering compassionate care and assistance in all facets of daily living for patients and/or residents who may face physical and/or cognitive challenges, including those who may display difficult behaviors.

Key responsibilities encompass, but are not limited to, addressing all aspects of the patient's and/or resident's requirements through various activities such as offering companionship, accompanying residents to external appointments, contributing insights to the interdisciplinary team, and performing other related tasks as necessary.

The ideal candidate must exhibit a strong commitment to promoting and supporting person-and family-centered care, prioritize safety, and collaborate with all team members to enhance worker and patient safety by integrating safety into daily practices, recognizing risks, and implementing improvements.

Physical Requirements:

By applying for this position, you acknowledge an understanding that the regular demands of this role include (but are not limited to):
*Frequent movement/lifting of up to 10-15lbs, regular movement/lifting of up to 50lbs; required to assist in restraining/repositioning/moving/lifting up to, or above, 50lbs with co-worker support and repetitively required to engage in pushing/pulling with moderate force (22-44lbsF).
*Consistently standing/walking. May work in confined or awkward positions to provide care. Tasks may involve repetitive actions such as reaching/stretching, bending/twisting, and low-level postures like squatting, crouching, or stooping.
*Potential exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and/or other contagions. May encounter patients/residents who pose a risk for aggressive behavior.
*Work environments may present exposure to scented/chemical products and/or other allergens in publicly accessible areas.

Required Qualifications:

*Completion of high school with a diploma recognized by the Newfoundland and Labrador Department of Education and Early Childhood Development.
*Graduation from a personal care attendant program sanctioned by Central Health.
*Current BLS certification.
*Proven effective interpersonal and communication skills.
*Consistent demonstration of the core values of NL
