About the Role
Our Ferring location has been serving the community since its inception, strategically positioned to cater to a diverse clientele. The store prides itself on its community engagement, focusing on delivering outstanding quality of care to a loyal patient base.
Our team comprises highly skilled Optical Advisors and qualified Dispensing Opticians, providing enhanced services such as Pre and Post Cataract care, Glaucoma Repeat Reading, and Minor Eye Conditions Services (MECS).
At Asda Opticians, the health and wellbeing of our customers is paramount. We prioritize delivering high-quality patient care and service.
A typical day will involve conducting comprehensive eye examinations, contact lens fittings, and extended service assessments. You will collaborate closely with our Dispensing Optician Manager to support training, coaching, and maintaining departmental standards.
With our extended service agreements with the NHS, we are dedicated to offering a broad spectrum of care for the diagnosis and management of eye conditions. We will assist you in obtaining any additional qualifications necessary to provide these services.

Our robust Continuing Professional Development (CPD) program includes dedicated time for Optometrists to pursue further qualifications, funded by Asda. This ensures you receive comprehensive training to meet the evolving eye care needs of our customers, focusing on your professional growth.
With support from in-store, regional, and home office teams, you will have access to expert guidance for any clinical or service-related inquiries.
Candidate Profile
We are in search of a dedicated Optometrist to join our vibrant team, committed to excellence in healthcare. We seek a qualified individual eager to contribute to our store's high service standards and foster positive relationships within the team and the broader community.

Key Responsibilities:
- Fully qualified optometrist registered with the General Optical Council (GOC)
- Registered performer with your NHS area team or health board
- MECs or WECs accredited (or willing to obtain accreditation within 12 months of joining Asda – supported and funded by us)
- On track to meet the statutory points requirement for CPD
- Utilize your skills and enthusiasm for the role to deliver an exceptional customer experience
- Passionate about developing new patient services and shaping departmental culture
When applying for any Optical positions, you must be registered with the General Optical Council (GOC) for the relevant professional role type. Additionally, you will need to provide evidence of your Right To Work in the UK.
As part of the compliance process, we will request evidence of being on the NHS performer list for the nation you wish to work in, along with two clinical references.
