English Language Examiner

As an English Language Examiner for Pearson, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy and consistency of our Entry Level Certificate (ELC) - English (New Specification) assessments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Mark candidates' responses in accordance with the pre-defined mark scheme, adhering to conditions of recognition and examination procedures.
  • Utilize ePEN, our online marking platform, to mark most subjects from the comfort of your own home.
  • For a few subjects, you will mark paper scripts sent through the post, requiring a high level of subject knowledge to apply the mark scheme effectively.
  • Submit samples to your Team Leader at designated times to ensure overall standards are maintained.
  • Adhere to milestones for marking and complete all administration as specified.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of one academic year's worth of teaching experience within the last 8 years, preferably in the relevant qualification and subject (ELC English experience is desired, but GCSE English Language experience will be considered).
  • A degree or equivalent qualification.
  • Qualification as a teacher.

Competencies:

  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • High level of subject knowledge to apply the mark scheme effectively.
