About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Consultant Ophthalmologist to join our team at Barts Health NHS Trust. As a key member of our Ophthalmology Department, you will play a vital role in providing tertiary services to the population of Northeast London and working collaboratively with other ophthalmology teams in London.

Main Responsibilities
  1. To support the running of the Medical Retina service across Barts Health, taking a lead role at The Royal London Hospital.
  2. To be involved in the strategic planning and development of the Medical Retina service at RLH.
  3. To assume responsibility for the management of junior medical staff.

Person Specification
  • Higher degree in Ophthalmology (MD/PhD)
  • Full GMC Registration
  • Professional Training in Ophthalmology (CCT or equivalent)
  • FRCOphth or equivalent Fellowship in Medical retina

We are looking for a candidate with a strong background in Medical retina, with experience in high-volume cataract surgery, specialist training, and a wide experience in managing Diabetic eye disease and ARMD. The ideal candidate will have a strong publication record in peer-reviewed journals and be able to demonstrate a commitment to excellence and innovation in their work.
