Job Title: Fire Systems Engineer

The Fire Systems Engineer is responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of fire alarm and suppression systems. This role involves carrying out system maintenance, fault finding, and attending emergency callouts to ensure the safety of people and property.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Complete daily electronic worksheets, weekly timesheets, and provide weekly mileage/expense claims.
  • Comply with policies related to Health, Safety, Security, Environment, and Technical Compliance issues.
  • Ensure all relevant engineering practices are adhered to and report any inconsistencies to a senior engineer or supervisor.
  • Attend to all jobs, call-outs, maintenance, or remedial works, escalating to a supervisor or senior engineer if delays or difficulties are encountered.
  • Update site logbooks with details of all work carried out while on site.
  • Carry out minor remedial/fault rectification works during PPM visits, supported by a separate call number and work sheet, and in conjunction with a written instruction/order from the client.
  • Maintain company-issued equipment in good condition and report any damaged, stolen, or missing equipment to a supervisor.
  • Assist in the development of trainees, mentoring them in Senseco working/best practice methods and reporting good progress or areas of concern to a supervisor.
  • Ensure good timekeeping and housekeeping at all times, setting a good example.
  • Carry out all duties in accordance with the Company employee handbook.
  • Advise a supervisor of progress/concerns on any contract/site through telephone updates and regular email.
  • Develop and maintain effective client relationships, assisting in gaining future work by relaying leads and survey information to the sales team.
  • Attend and prepare for engineers' meetings when required.
  • Ensure all systems worked upon are left operational where possible, escalating urgent and critical problems prior to leaving site.
  • Review alternative solutions, being resourceful at all times.
  • Attend training courses to extend knowledge and skillset of various manufacturers' products.
Requirements:
  • At least 3 years' experience in the fire industry.
  • Proven ability to install, test, commission, and service Fire Alarm Systems and/or Security Systems.
  • Excellent servicing, diagnostic, and fault-finding skills, with the ability to resolve by elimination or technical recommendations.
  • Computer literate, with good general IT skills, including Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Understanding and ability of software programming on mainline products, such as Morley, Advanced, Kentec, etc.
