Job Description

Our client, a leading player in the technology and retail sector, is seeking a seasoned Cyber Security Strategist to join their dynamic team in Southampton. This pivotal role is crucial in ensuring all IT implementations are secure and monitored, particularly in the face of increasing cyber security threats.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and Maintain a Comprehensive Security Strategy: Align security data and tooling with business objectives and regulatory requirements.
  • Evaluate and Integrate Security Tools: Enhance the organisation's overall security posture by evaluating and integrating appropriate security tools and technologies.
  • Own and Manage Security Standards: Ensure adherence to group technical security standards and principles across all IT activities.
  • Develop Security Roadmaps: Stay abreast of industry trends and develop security roadmaps to mitigate potential security risks and vulnerabilities.
  • Manage Security Partnerships: Foster relationships with key security partners and technology providers, including Cyber Insurance.
  • Support IT Security Designs: Collaborate with Networks and Infrastructure teams to design effective security measures such as firewalls, encryption protocols, and intrusion detection systems.
  • Design Security Safeguards: Develop security safeguards for the organisation's platforms.
  • Act as Security Technology Design Authority: Approve security designs at relevant Architectural Governance Boards.
  • Facilitate Audit Processes: Ensure compliance with required standards through audit processes.
  • Mentor Cybersecurity Team Members: Mentor analysts and other members of the overarching cybersecurity function.
Job Requirements:
  • Proven Cybersecurity Experience: Proven professional experience in IT/cybersecurity.
  • Cybersecurity Industry Knowledge: Good knowledge of the cyber security industry, products, and service trends.
  • Extensive Cybersecurity Knowledge: Extensive knowledge of current cyber security threat types and mitigation controls.
  • Standards Knowledge: Knowledge of standards such as NIST, MITRE, OWASP.
  • Technical Background: Strong technical background in areas like Microsoft, Unix, Oracle, SAP, Cloud, Digital, Networks.
  • Communication Skills: Capability of discussing technical security issues in a non-technical manner.
  • Business Acumen: Understanding of the business relevance of security risks.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Proactive approach with the confidence to drive discussions and decision-making.
  • Adaptability: Ability to manage competing demands and work under pressure.
  • Language Skills: High flexibility and willingness to travel as required.
