Quality Assurance Engineer – Aerospace & Defence Sector

  • Location: Hybrid Role
  • Salary: £35,000 - £44,000 with comprehensive benefits.

In this role, you will be an integral part of the Operations Technical Support team, collaborating on products produced within our Printed Circuit Board (PCB) assembly division at our Electronic Systems facility.

Your contributions will be vital for innovative products including Helmet Mounted Displays, Head-Up Displays, Mission Computers, Flight Control Systems, Active Inceptors, and other critical safety technologies.

Key Responsibilities - Quality Assurance Engineer - Aerospace & Defence Sector

  • Conduct First Article Inspections (FAIs) on both assembled and unassembled Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs).
  • Facilitate Process Health evaluations in conjunction with the respective Process Owner.
  • Act as the primary contact for customer quality issues, including investigation and documentation.
  • Execute Product Audits to ensure compliance and quality standards.
  • Ensure that contractual quality obligations are communicated effectively to the PCB Assembly team.
  • Support failure reporting and corrective action processes (FRACAS) at the project level, coordinating with Process Owners.
  • Lead and support continuous improvement initiatives across projects and operations to align with the strategic objectives of the organization.

Required Skills and Experience - Quality Assurance Engineer - Aerospace & Defence Sector

Essential Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience in a Quality Engineering role.
  • Strong understanding of Quality Systems within a manufacturing context, particularly in PCB fabrication and assembly.
  • HNC or equivalent qualifications in a relevant discipline.
  • Familiarity with technical documentation and Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Proficient in various problem-solving methodologies.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of Quality Systems standards, specifically EN9100 (AS9100).
  • Experience conducting First Article Inspections in accordance with AS9102.
  • Awareness of IPC Manufacturing standards.
  • Familiarity with continuous improvement methodologies and tools.
