Key Responsibilities
Objective
The primary role involves conducting statutory thorough examinations of cranes and lifting apparatus in alignment with relevant legislative standards, company protocols, and client specifications when necessary. This includes performing inspections in accordance with the Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998. A rope access qualification is essential, as it constitutes a significant aspect of the position. The ability to utilize various inspection techniques on components, lifting devices, and tools is crucial to determine their compliance with specifications.
Responsibilities include executing load testing and non-destructive testing (NDT) as required, ensuring all tasks are performed safely and efficiently, documenting the condition of inspected items, and entering all relevant data into the company database.
Essential Functions
- Implement the most effective inspection techniques on components.
- Maintain a safe work environment for all activities.
- Conduct risk assessments and take necessary precautions as required.
- Ensure functional tests of equipment are conducted per established procedures, reporting any malfunctions to the supervisor.
- Perform inspections within the guidelines of applicable specifications.
- Analyze test results in accordance with relevant specifications.
- Generate clear and detailed reports outlining methods used, inspection results, and any limitations or restrictions encountered.
- Complete tasks efficiently to meet deadlines, adapting to changing priorities as necessary.
- Adhere to Oceaneering's operational procedures and statutory/client requirements.
- Undertake additional reasonable duties as assigned by supervision or management.
- Comply with the Company's Health, Safety, Environmental, and Quality Systems.
Qualifications
Required
- Completion of the LEEA Foundation Course
- Additional LEEA certification
- IRATA Level 1 or 2 qualification
- MPI – PCN Level 2 certification
- DPI – PCN Level 2 certification
- Proficiency in IT
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in cranes or lifting equipment
- Valid driving license
Desired
- Familiarity with relevant regulations, such as LOLER, PUWER, and Supply of Machinery
- Knowledge of applicable standards, including BS-EN lifting accessories, BS-EN 818 series (chains for lifting), ISO 10855 series (offshore containers), DNV Standards, and LLOYDS standards.
- Experience in wire rope socketing
- Training in crane inspection
- Background in developing load test/examination procedures
- A flexible approach, strong teamwork, and effective communication skills
- Excellent organizational and interpersonal abilities
- Completion of an eye test
