About the Role

The Data Centre team at PRS designs and operates some of the most sophisticated electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, and HVAC systems in the world.

The Facilities Technician will operate, monitor, and support physical facilities conditions for the data centre.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintenance and Repair: Inspect, maintain, and repair various data centre systems, including electrical distribution, heating and cooling, and power supply.
  • System Monitoring: Monitor and respond to abnormal conditions in the data centre facilities systems and equipment.
  • Equipment Support: Provide daily assistance to senior technicians, including reading blueprints, conducting tours of systems, and assessing their working order.
  • System Integration: Support startup, commissioning, and integration of new electrical equipment and systems into facilities infrastructure.
  • Uptime Management: Manage the uptime and maintenance of UPS, generators, electrical distribution, and control and monitoring systems.
Requirements
  • Electrical Experience: Ideally have completed an Electrical Apprenticeship or equivalent City and Guilds, NVQ's, 18th Edition, test and inspection or other electrical certified training.
  • Industrial Experience: Entry Level 2 years of electrical experience (e.g., electrical testing equipment or electrical distribution) in an industrial or commercial environment.
  • Preferred Qualifications: 2 years of experience in the maintenance of electrical distribution systems or construction/technical environment or a related field.
  • Critical Engineering Experience: Experience in Critical Engineering Environments such as Data Centres, hospitals, pharmaceutical, power plants, manufacturing, production, heavy industrial or X forces etc.
  • Electrical Knowledge: Knowledge of electrical systems Low voltage, medium voltage and advantageous High Voltage distribution (e.g., Feeders, Transformers, Generators, Switchgear, UPS systems, ATS/STS units, PDU/PMM units).
  • Test Equipment Knowledge: Knowledge of test equipment, electrical devices, sensors, and troubleshooting utilising standard hand tools, digital metering, or calibration/diagnostic equipment.
  • Communication Skills: Ability to communicate with contractors and specialist service providers who perform maintenance or upgrade work on critical data centre systems.
