Electrical Control Engineer Job Description

Are you a skilled Controls and Automation Engineer looking for a challenging role that involves working with cutting-edge systems and technology? Our client, a leading global manufacturing business based in the outskirts of Glasgow, is seeking an experienced Electrical Control Engineer to join their team.

The primary objective of this role is to take ownership and responsibility for the development, operation, safety, and availability of electrical and controls systems and equipment. This is a fantastic opportunity for an engineer who is passionate about delivering engineering excellence and driving continuous improvements to achieve outstanding performance and productivity.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Monitor reliability metrics and goals to drive performance improvements.
  • Troubleshoot, fault find, update, and program control systems (PLC/HMI).
  • Provide a point of escalation for complex electrical issues.
  • Contribute to CAPEX and equipment improvement projects.
  • Develop and implement site engineering strategies to ensure optimized performance and availability of production equipment.
  • Provide guidance and technical support to others regarding Automation, PLC, and HMI.
  • Sound knowledge of Ethernet networking systems.

Requirements:

  • Minimum HND in Electrical, Controls, or Automation Engineering.
  • Past experience in FMCG/manufacturing desirable but not essential.
  • Experience working with Siemens PLC controls.
