About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Treasury Manager to join our team at A&O Shearman. As a key member of our Treasury team, you will be responsible for providing expert advice and guidance on all aspects of treasury management.

Key Responsibilities
  • Liquidity and Cash Management
    • Manage the day-to-day relationships with our relationship banks
    • Manage our bank facilities, including origination, renewals, drawdowns, and headroom
    • Forecast cash flow positions, related borrowing needs, and available funds for investment
    • Advising management on the liquidity aspects of its short and long-term planning
    • Manage the firm's global cash resources to ensure optimal use and location of funds in all major operating currencies
    • Maximise efficiency of the firm's cash resources by pooling currencies to avoid conversion
  • Risk Management and Compliance
    • Responsibility for treasury policies and their implementation
    • Maintain systems and procedures that impose an adequate level of control over treasury activities
    • Oversee the client money team to deliver compliance with Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) Standards and Regulations
  • Foreign Exchange Management
    • Review the firm's natural currency hedge and balance sheet exposures
    • Take action to correct any imbalance, recommend hedges and other financial derivatives where appropriate
  • Insurance
    • Oversee the management of the firm's portfolio of global insurance policies (including P.I.) and London insurance policies (excluding HR)
    • Provide input on appropriate coverage levels, monitor claims, and manage relationships with brokers
  • Management Responsibilities
    • Direct and manage the activities of the Treasury & Client Money team
    • Plan, staff, budget, manage expense priorities, and recommend and implement changes to methods
    • Direct reports: Treasury Manager and Client Money & Insurance Manager
    • Hire and develop a strong team to support the firm's objectives and strategy
Requirements
  • Significant experience in Treasury functions, ideally in a large international environment
  • Previous change-management/integration experience desirable
  • Certified Treasury Professional (CTP) or Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation is ideal
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organisation and project management skills
  • Demonstrated intellectual curiosity and strong problem-solving skills
  • Self-starter with the ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Strong interpersonal skills and team-leadership skills
  • Strong knowledge of accounting processes and internal controls
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills and attention to detail
