Berry Recruitment is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Transport Planner to join our team. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for providing a commercially focused collection service of domestic, recycling and trade waste, maximising all opportunities.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Account Management: Assist in running the CWR account of a commercially focused transport operation, working closely with Customer Services to deliver efficient service, minimise rolled jobs and maximise service delivery.
  2. Operational Coordination: Co-ordinate the day-to-day allocation of drivers, vehicles and work requirements, continually monitoring and achieving maximum efficiency and providing the most effective services.
  3. Driver Management: Co-ordinate the re-allocation and cover of work as a result of driver absences and all day-to-day re-allocation of driver staffing requirements.
  4. Staffing Management: Ensure any absences or gaps in staffing are covered for CWR in the most commercial and effective manner.
  5. Quality Control: Ensure drivers are using the tablet correctly so that job times and weights are recorded accurately.
  6. Route Optimisation: Monitor, reschedule, and re-plan routes to optimise time, route density, and running costs to maximise productivity via re-routes.
  7. Customer Service: Ensure missed collections are rearranged as soon and cost-effectively as practicable and that sales and customer services teams are made aware.
  8. Performance Monitoring: Monitor and review the productivity of all aspects of collection services, identify, plan and implement changes as necessary to achieve maximum efficiency, effectiveness and economic performance, with a high standard of customer care.
  9. Customer Liaison: Provide a high level of customer service at all times to external and internal customers.
  10. Seasonal Planning: Manage seasonal re-routes for the RCV rounds, ensuring they are as efficient as possible and taking into account work won not yet started. Liaise with the sales team during this process to consider the impact on customers and new sales strategy.
  11. Business Development: Work closely with the sales team to ensure new customers are booked on and scheduled correctly.
  12. Financial Analysis: Calculate profit/loss by RCV route regularly, report to the Transport Manager and Commercial Manager, and develop a plan for improvements.
  13. Reporting and Analysis: Work with the preparer of the CWR daily and weekly profit KPI (Group Admin or Finance team) and monthly management accounts to understand the results and develop a plan for improvements.
