Job Description

A leading company in Electric Vehicle technology is seeking a skilled Procurement Specialist to join their team on a contract basis in North West London. The initial contract duration is 6 months.

Role Overview

This position involves responsibility for sourcing and procuring sub-assemblies, components, materials, equipment, and tooling used in the development of electric vehicles. The focus is on research and development projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Procurement Cycle: Prepare and distribute Requests for Quotes (RFQs) and Purchase Orders (POs), maintaining logs, including delivery schedules and records.
  • Order Tracking: Ensure timely delivery of goods.
  • Sourcing: Review electrical or mechanical schematics and drawings to identify materials for sourcing.
  • Order Placement: Review demand for new parts requested by the engineering team and place orders assigned to you.
  • Supplier Selection: Assess and select the most appropriate suppliers using relevant sources of information, and explore alternate suppliers when required.
  • Negotiation: Follow best negotiation practices and ensure general terms and conditions of sales and purchase are acceptable.
  • Data Management: Maintain the approved supplier list, tracking supplier certifications, key commercial, and technical data.
  • Reporting: Prepare and deliver briefs, updates, and reports as required by project teams.
  • Support: Support the in-house build of prototypes by tracking serial numbers, creating part kits, and re-stocking and tracking sub-assemblies.
  • Stock Management: Perform stock checks if required.
  • Relationships and Communication: Develop and maintain supplier relationships, ensuring timely and appropriate communication with stakeholders and suppliers.
  • Issue Resolution: Liaise between internal stakeholders and suppliers to resolve issues.
  • Operations Support: Identify and replenish shortages of raw materials and consumables.
  • Inventory Management: Manage collections of outbound goods, preparing shipping documentation and packing goods before collection.
  • Goods Receipt: Manage delivery of incoming goods, including unpacking and stocking goods.
  • Goods In: Assist with Goods In by receiving and unboxing orders and checking the delivery is correct.
Requirements
  • Experience: Procuring a variety of commodities and materials, including custom machined parts & fabrications, electrical and mechanical consumables, and tooling & equipment.
  • Autonomy and Collaboration: Capability to work autonomously and collaborate across the business, other teams, and at all levels.
  • Terms and Conditions: Experience with understanding and interpreting Terms & Conditions of purchase.
  • Shipping and Warehousing: Understanding of shipping and warehousing processes.
  • MS Office: Competent with MS Office suite.
Desirable Qualifications
  • Electrical and Mechanical Knowledge: Capable of understanding electrical and mechanical schematics and drawings.
  • Automotive Industry Experience: Experience in the automotive industry.
  • CIPS Qualification: CIPS qualification or equivalent.
