This role primarily involves community-based responsibilities, necessitating the ability to travel efficiently to fulfill job requirements while managing sensitive information and transporting essential equipment.

Key Responsibilities

The Advanced Physiotherapy Practitioner will:

  • Exhibit relevant skills and possess prior senior clinical and leadership experience.
  • Conduct comprehensive, high-quality assessments to meet patient care needs.
  • Manage a specialized clinical caseload effectively.
  • Provide expert clinical support and guidance to patients and their caregivers.
  • Collaborate closely with key stakeholders to identify opportunities for service enhancement and implement transformative changes.
  • Advocate for and uphold patients' rights by promoting shared decision-making, respecting individual preferences, and ensuring privacy and dignity at all times.
  • Demonstrate exceptional communication skills, delivering information sensitively and effectively.
  • Work autonomously, utilizing advanced clinical judgment and knowledge within a multidisciplinary framework, while planning, delivering, and monitoring interventions.
  • Educate individuals and their families/caregivers on managing specific challenges to facilitate behavior change.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Recognized degree or equivalent qualification in physiotherapy.
  • Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
  • Completion of specialist training or courses to Postgraduate Diploma level.

Desirable

  • Membership in the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy.

Experience

Essential

  • Significant post-registration experience in the relevant specialty.
  • Prior clinical experience pertinent to the position.
  • Active participation in service development and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Broad experience across various physiotherapy domains.
  • Experience working as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Desirable

  • Experience in providing clinical supervision.
  • Experience in teaching other healthcare disciplines.

  • Demonstrated specialist skills within the relevant clinical area.
  • Highly developed physical skills related to manual techniques and therapeutic handling.
  • Excellent communication abilities with healthcare professionals and the public.

  • Capability to manage a clinical caseload effectively.

Special Knowledge

Essential

  • Relevant continuing professional development (CPD) evidence.
  • Specialist physiotherapy knowledge in the clinical area.
  • Awareness of health and safety and clinical risk management protocols.
  • Familiarity with NHS systems.

  • Postgraduate course relevant to the position.

  • Participation and experience in emergency respiratory rota (if applicable).
  • Ability to travel efficiently to meet job requirements, which may include cross-site working or various locations, while managing sensitive information and bulky equipment (if applicable).
