Private Client Solicitor Opportunity

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Private Client Solicitor to join our team at Carlton Recruitment. As a Private Client Solicitor, you will be responsible for handling a wide range of matters, including wills, powers of attorney, trusts, probate, and tax advice for private clients.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage support services, including supervision of your own secretary if applicable.
  • Participate in marketing activities, both firm-wide and departmental.
  • Utilize the skills of department trainees and assist with their training.
  • Exercise financial control, including cash-flow management, collection of monies on account, and billing procedures.
  • Contribute to the activities of the team and assist during the absence of other fee earners.
  • Perform work outside of normal hours when required.
  • Travel to client meetings, both in and outside the UK, as necessary.
  • Promote good file management and formulate internal procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with Lexcel and other regulatory procedures.
  • Demonstrate competence in your chosen area of law and practice.
  • Achieve targets for chargeable hours, fees, recovery rate, lock-up, and non-chargeable time.
  • Develop and maintain a client/referrer base.
  • Properly refer work to relevant departments and develop work for other departments.
  • Supervise junior members of staff, as necessary.
  • Contribute to practice development.
Requirements:
  • A good honours degree.
  • A willingness to participate in activities outside of work, within the department.
  • Interpersonal, social, and communication skills, including an appreciation of client vulnerability.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and under pressure.
  • Computer literacy and ability to develop its use in your functional area.
  • Enthusiasm and commitment.
  • A sound knowledge of your responsibilities as a solicitor, including rules and principles of professional conduct, client care, conflicts of interest, confidentiality, relations with third parties, relations with other solicitors, and regulatory and compliance procedures.
