Job Title: Logistics Manager

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Logistics Manager to join our team at Reed. As a Logistics Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient delivery of day-old chicks across the UK and EU.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Transportation Planning: Work closely with colleagues across the business and 3rd party logistics providers to plan the most appropriate transport methods.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure full compliance with all necessary regulations including driver, transport, animal welfare and health & safety.
  • Transport Budget Management: Plan and manage the transport budget.
  • Bio-Security and Bird Welfare: Ensure bio-security and bird welfare are championed and upheld.
  • Cost Management: Managing costs across the transport operation to ensure the most cost-effective delivery of day-old chicks.
  • Quality Support: Support the quality team in investigating complaints.
  • Vehicle Procurement: Assist in arrangement of both procurement and lease agreements for new vehicles.

Requirements:

  • Leadership Skills: Excellent communication, problem solving and organisational skills.
  • Team Management: The ability to manage, lead and empower teams.
  • Customer Focus: A strong drive to focus and deliver to our customers.

Qualifications:

  • Management Experience: Minimum of 5 years management experience in a similar role.
  • Certifications: CPC qualified and member of Animal Transport Association.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Good knowledge of animal welfare regulations.
  • Customs Procedures: Good working knowledge of customs procedures and animal health regulations for export from GB to EU and NI and a proven track record will highlight this.
  • Driving Qualifications: Valid class 1 HGV desirable although not essential.
