Job Summary
The Midlothian Council is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Teacher of Economics and Commerce to join our team. As a key member of our education department, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality education to our students, promoting academic excellence, and contributing to the development of our curriculum.
Key Responsibilities
- Teach Economics and Commerce to students at various levels, including GCSE and A-Level
- Develop and implement engaging lesson plans, assessments, and evaluations to meet the needs of diverse learners
- Assess student progress, provide feedback, and identify areas for improvement
- Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement curriculum changes, ensuring alignment with national standards
- Contribute to the development of departmental policies, procedures, and initiatives
- Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and stay updated on best practices
Requirements
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
- Strong subject knowledge and expertise in Economics and Commerce
- Excellent teaching and communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and students
- Flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced educational environment
Working Conditions
The successful candidate will be based in one of our secondary schools, working with students aged 11-18. The role will involve teaching Economics and Commerce to students at various levels, as well as contributing to the development of our curriculum and departmental policies.
