Job Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen in the Breast Department at Wrexham Maelor Hospital for a Senior Medical Secretary/Administrative Lead. This is a fixed-term position until 31st May due to secondment.

Applicants must obtain permission from their current line manager prior to applying for this post.

Main Duties
  • Provide a comprehensive and high-quality medical secretarial and administrative service to consultants, doctors, and junior medical teams, as well as specialist nursing teams and other health professionals.
  • Guide, supervise, and direct the administrative team in dealing with day-to-day issues to ensure the smooth running of the department and provide support to the line manager.
  • Work independently and as part of a team, using discretion, judgment, and initiative.
  • Process and generate urgent and routine correspondence with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and ensure a high standard of customer care at all times.
  • Be flexible in approach to work to meet the demands of the service.
Requirements
  • Previous medical secretary experience.
  • Excellent time management skills, well-organized, and able to prioritize workload demands to meet strict deadlines.
  • Ability to work in a team and use discretion, judgment, and initiative.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and ensure a high standard of customer care.
  • Flexible approach to work to meet the demands of the service.
