About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated HLTA to join our team at Barnet Council. As an HLTA, you will play a vital role in supporting the teaching and learning process, working closely with teachers and other staff members to ensure the best possible outcomes for our students.

Key Responsibilities

Teaching and Learning

  • Support the teacher in planning, preparing and delivering lessons, ensuring that all pupils have access to a broad and balanced curriculum.
  • Assist with the assessment and recording of pupil progress, providing feedback to teachers and other staff members as required.
  • Use effective behaviour management strategies to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Supervise pupils during lessons, providing individual support and guidance as needed.

Planning and Preparation

  • Contribute to the planning and preparation of learning activities, using your expertise to develop engaging and challenging lessons.
  • Prepare the classroom for lessons, setting up equipment and resources as required.
  • Use allocated time to devise clearly structured activities that interest and motivate learners.

Working with Staff, Parents and Carers

  • Communicate effectively with other staff members, pupils and parents/carers, providing feedback on pupil progress and attainment as directed by teachers.
  • Contribute to meetings with parents and carers, providing information on pupil progress and any concerns that may have been raised.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues and other professionals to ensure that all pupils receive the support they need to succeed.

Requirements

We are looking for a highly motivated and dedicated individual who is passionate about supporting the teaching and learning process. You will have a strong understanding of the curriculum and be able to communicate effectively with pupils, staff and parents/carers. You will also have the ability to work independently and as part of a team, using your initiative and problem-solving skills to overcome challenges.
