About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant Anaesthetist to join our General Theatre Anaesthetic team at Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

Job Summary

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality anaesthetic services to patients undergoing general, breast, and colorectal surgery, as well as upper GI surgery, orthopaedics, and trauma. The role will also involve working with the Acute Pain Service, Chronic Pain/Pain Management Clinic, and Cardiopulmonary Exercise Testing service.

Main Duties
  • Provide anaesthetic services for a range of surgical specialities
  • Work with the Acute Pain Service and Chronic Pain/Pain Management Clinic
  • Contribute to the development of ERAS programmes in various surgical specialities
  • Participate in the general on-call rota covering non-cardiac emergency surgery and supporting maternity services

Person Specification
  • Eligibility for inclusion on the Specialist Register or eligible for inclusion within 6 months of interview date
  • Full registration with the GMC
  • Primary medical qualification
  • FRCA or equivalent
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
  • Advanced Life Support qualification
  • Qualification in Paediatric Life Support
  • Advanced training in Anaesthetic Sub-speciality
