Job Title: Site-Based Graduate Health and Safety Advisor

We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Graduate Health and Safety Advisor to join our team at Jones Bros Civil Engineering. As a key member of our construction project delivery teams, you will be responsible for assisting, advising, and implementing health, safety, and environmental processes, procedures, and improvement initiatives across our construction sites nationwide.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the development and implementation of HSE management plans, including the Project Management Plan (PMP), Construction Phase Plan (CPP), and Key Performance Indicators (KPI).
  • Deliver site safety inductions to all site team members and visitors, and support the site team in preparing and delivering toolbox talks, behavioral safety programs, and safety briefings.
  • Provide technical advice and support to deal with specific project issues related to HSE considerations.
  • Review projects to identify opportunities and unusual risks, and provide briefings as required.
  • Assist in the incident management process, including incident control, notification, and investigation.
  • Ensure compliance with HSE management systems and procedures as part of the Business Management System.
  • Provide support in terms of project monitoring requirements, including regular HSE inspections, audits, and trends.
  • Identify and mitigate risks as appropriate.
  • Maintain accurate records, including regular HSE progress and status reports.
  • Represent the company at client progress meetings and satisfy client HSE requirements.
Requirements:
  • NEBOSH General/Construction Certificate as a minimum.
  • Strong computer literacy and proficiency in Microsoft Office and SharePoint applications.
  • Good working knowledge of HSE principles and practices.
  • Enthusiasm for health, safety, and environmental issues and a commitment to driving up standards.
  • Willingness to study and progress with HSE qualifications and competencies, working towards chartered status of IOSH.
  • Self-motivated, focused, and able to work to deadlines.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to work with all levels of the workforce.
  • Full UK driving license.
