Reading Strategy Lead

About the Role:We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Reading Strategy Lead to join our team at HMP Dovegate. As a key member of our education team, you will play a crucial role in developing and implementing a reading strategy that promotes literacy and learning among prisoners.
Key Responsibilities:- Develop and implement a reading strategy that meets the needs of all prisoners, including those with specific learning needs.
- Collaborate with education staff, library staff, and other stakeholders to promote reading and literacy across the prison.
- Coordinate and drive the implementation of the Prison Wide Reading Strategy.
- Provide training and support to mentors and staff on reading and literacy.
- Manage the Dovegate Newspaper and ensure effective delivery, monitoring, and evaluation of reading initiatives.
- Relevant teaching qualification (Level 2 and above) and experience of supporting people to learn to read using a phonics-based approach.
- Experience of managing a wide range of relationships at different levels, including building partnerships and working collaboratively with colleagues and external agencies.
- Demonstrable experience of creating new initiatives and leading on projects independently, managing your own workload.
- Experience of working with people who are neurodiverse or may have other types of specialist learning needs.
