Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Apprentice Maintenance Technician to join our Maintenance department at Michelmersh Brick Holdings Plc. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in supporting the Maintenance Manager in the continuous improvement of our factory areas.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and coordinate all day and afternoon maintenance activities to minimize downtime and ensure compliance with company standards.
  • Assist in the analysis of breakdowns to establish root causes and implement corrective actions.
  • Contribute to the Predictive Maintenance (PPM) system, ensuring proactive checks are completed on time.
  • Overhaul, manufacture, repair, and refurbish parts and equipment in the onsite maintenance workshop.
  • Fulfill parts requisitions to ensure stock levels are retained, minimizing downtime.
  • Assist with ongoing project work, such as new equipment installation and factory improvements.
  • Liaise with colleagues on different shift patterns, handing over work and reporting any issues.
  • Undertake training and development opportunities to improve performance and capabilities.
  • Maintain high levels of compliance with health and safety standards.
  • Flexibility to work outside of shift patterns when cover is required.
Requirements
  • Formal qualifications in mechanical and electrical engineering (Apprenticeship, NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, BTEC, or similar).
  • Solid work history and experience working in both electrical and mechanical positions.
  • Experience servicing and repairing components.
  • Experience with 3-phase electrical equipment.
  • Good competency with hydraulics and pneumatics.
  • Ability to read and understand technical drawings.
  • Ability to weld, grind, and use oxygen/acetylene equipment.
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing environment is an advantage.

  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
  • Preferably, a forklift truck license, but not essential.
