Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Maintenance Operative to join our team at We Care Group. As a key member of our facilities team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our homes, plant, and equipment.

Your primary focus will be on maintaining a high standard of repair and upkeep, ensuring the comfort, safety, and well-being of our residents, visitors, and staff. This will involve undertaking everyday repairs, planned maintenance, and checks, either in-house or with specialist contractors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Attend statutory training and any other training as directed by management.
  • Report any health and safety concerns to the General Manager.
  • Ensure the Home Manager is briefed on any matters that may pose a health and safety risk or non-compliance with legislation.
  • Conduct and record all checks as prescribed in the Fire Safety Logbook and manage the file.
  • Maintain workshop, stores, ancillary, and plant rooms in an orderly and clean condition.
  • Develop effective working relationships with other employees within the service.
  • Liaise with contractors to ensure safe conduct, high-quality workmanship, and value for money.
  • Assist with the induction of staff on fire safety and evacuation procedures.
  • Ensure all work undertaken is in accordance with good health and safety practice and prioritizes the welfare of staff, residents, and visitors.
  • Implement and manage the Maintenance Manual, ensuring all checks are conducted and recorded as prescribed.
  • Maintain the outside of the building, grounds, and gardens to a high standard of repair and aesthetic condition.
  • Ensure all electrical appliances are subjected to a Portable Appliance Test annually and certification retained.
  • Adhere to company purchasing procedures and minimize waste and control costs.
  • Organize and retain all records and files relating to the maintenance department.
