Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Marine Surveyor - Marine Engineer to join our team at AqualisBraemar LOC. As a key member of our Maritime consultancy, you will be responsible for conducting surveying tasks and assisting in the delivery of business to provide sufficient surveyor coverage in the geographic area of responsibility.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop a thorough understanding of all business line services and their key deliverables.
  • Attend casualties, assessing the nature, extent, and cause of damages.
  • Estimate repair costs and prepare detailed reports for clients.
  • Engage in business development by promoting Engineering Consulting services to local and international clients.
  • Support marketing initiatives for the business line and its services.
  • Maintain a billable utilization rate of over 70%.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
  • Ensure strict adherence to company QHSE policies, procedures, work systems, and regulations at all ABL premises, project sites, and client locations.

Requirements

  • A qualified Chief Engineer (STCW class 1) or equivalent with significant survey / consultancy-related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant professional experience.
  • Demonstrate working knowledge of industry standards and codes and the ability to apply standards.
  • Strong decision-making, technical, and analytical skills with a focus on operational excellence.
  • Delivers accurate, high-quality work on time with effective multitasking.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Assertive, proactive, and ethically grounded with a professional demeanor.
  • Highly organized, self-directed, and commercially savvy.
  • Outgoing, pragmatic, and a strong team player.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Relevant short courses, such as high voltage, are advantageous.
  • Experience as Chief Engineer, in consultancy, and technical ship management.
  • Knowledge of marine insurance, admiralty law, and surveyor qualifications (OVID/CMID).
  • Proficient in vessel dry dockings, machinery damage, and repairs.
  • Public speaking, industry article authorship, and professional networking.
  • Membership in professional bodies like IMarEST is a plus.
