Southend-on-Sea City Council is seeking a visionary leader to oversee the delivery of high-quality parks and open spaces services. As the Head of Parks and Open Spaces, you will be responsible for ensuring the sustainable management of these services, maximizing their benefits for the community, and driving initiatives that promote sustainability, climate change mitigation, and community safety.

About the Role

The successful candidate will have a proven track record of leading teams, developing strategies, and implementing initiatives that drive positive change. You will be a natural communicator, able to build strong relationships with stakeholders, and a collaborative leader who can foster a culture of learning and professional development within the team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement strategies to improve the sustainability and climate resilience of parks and open spaces services
  • Lead and manage a team of service managers and wider teams to deliver high-quality services
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to identify and address community needs and priorities
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with key partners and stakeholders
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of services and make recommendations for improvement
