Morson Talent is currently seeking a skilled Mechanical Cost Analyst to join a prominent infrastructure solutions organization. This role involves working on various water industry projects, focusing on the remaining AMP7 initiatives and initiating early AMP8 activities.

The estimating department is experiencing significant growth to accommodate the anticipated rise in project workload over the next five years, with project budgets ranging from £5 million to over £100 million.

Collaborating with water and wastewater organizations, this firm develops strategies aimed at improving water quality, cost-effectiveness, and sustainability.

This position is primarily remote, requiring occasional travel, and offers a competitive salary along with a comprehensive benefits package, including a vehicle allowance, pension scheme, and private health insurance.


Required Qualifications and Experience:

  • A degree or equivalent qualification in a Mechanical or Electrical Engineering-related field.
  • At least 3 years of experience as a Mechanical Cost Analyst with a major mechanical/electrical contractor in the water sector.
  • Proficient in estimating costs for medium to large-scale mechanical (and ideally electrical) engineering projects.
  • Essential experience in wastewater/sewerage treatment and process engineering.
  • Familiarity with clean water projects is a plus.
  • Knowledge of the Civil Engineering Method of Measurement is required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Become an integral part of the estimating project team, responsible for developing the mechanical cost estimate.
  • Create a detailed scope based on drawings, specifications, and a Project Control Document (PCD) that outlines the project scope.
  • Identify any discrepancies or omissions in the scope as outlined in the PCD.
  • Compile abstracts of material and subcontractor requirements for sourcing and pricing.
  • Conduct thorough technical and commercial evaluations of material and subcontractor bids to ensure comprehensive pricing coverage.
  • Prepare detailed analytical estimates, including in-depth assessments of the Mechanical (and ideally Electrical) packages and necessary attendances.
