About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Security Officer to join our team at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. As a Security Officer, you will play a vital role in maintaining a safe and secure environment for our patients, staff, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain a highly visible deterrent by patrolling hospital sites on foot, ensuring all property and land associated with the Trust is secure and free of hazard.
  • Carry out Control room duties, including monitoring of CCTV when providing cover for Control Room staff.
  • Unlocking and locking of departments and taking off and resetting alarms as required, following site-specific procedures.
  • Escort and protect staff as required to maintain safety and security of staff, premises, and equipment.
  • Collection and/or delivery of cash/cash boxes as instructed.
  • Logging of lost property handed into security and creating and maintaining an appropriate audit log of that property.
  • Receipt/issue of stores/equipment.
  • To ensure that all patients, staff, and visitors are courteously received and assisted.
  • Security marking of Trust equipment.
  • Assisting with mortuary duties out of hours.
  • Digital lock codes and maintaining records.

Requirements
  • Applicants should be educated to GCSE grade C/4 or above in English and Maths (or equivalent).
  • Hold a current SIA certificate Door supervisor or security guard.
  • Conflict Resolution Trained.
  • Hold a current SIA certificate in CCTV.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
  • Knowledge of CCTV systems.
  • Knowledge and familiarity with the Data Protection Act (GDPR).
  • Experience in a hospital or care environment.
Further Training
  • Knowledge of breakaway and physical intervention.

  • Ability to undertake a physically demanding role.
