Position Overview

Are you an enthusiastic and technically proficient professional eager to ensure the seamless functionality of Clinical IT systems? The Health Informatics team at County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust is looking for a committed Clinical IT Systems Specialist to enhance our dynamic Systems team.

As a key member of the systems team, you will assume a crucial role in management and leadership, taking charge of the administration, configuration, development, and support of various IT systems within the Trust. Your primary focus will be on our Patient Safety & Risk Management system, making experience with platforms such as Ulysses, Datix, or similar highly advantageous.

Main Responsibilities

In collaboration with fellow systems team members and staff across Health Informatics, you will be responsible for ensuring the reliable operation, configuration, and support of Patient Safety & Risk Management systems and other clinical applications, contributing to the delivery of exceptional patient care.

Job Responsibilities

The successful candidate will report directly to a Systems Support Manager and collaborate closely with a team of System Administrators/Managers and Senior Systems Support Specialists.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing, supporting, and administering clinical and administrative IT systems
  • Reviewing requests and incidents while engaging with stakeholders and end users
  • Supervising staff and ensuring system availability and operation
  • Developing and maintaining policies and procedural documentation
  • Providing proactive technical support to users, identifying and resolving issues
  • Monitoring systems and taking corrective actions as necessary
  • Updating and configuring systems in a timely manner
  • Maintaining system software and hardware as required
  • Implementing new solutions or updated code sets
  • Conducting audits to ensure data accuracy and quality
  • Managing supplier relationships and contracts
  • Leading small projects and system upgrades
  • Offering support and guidance to end users

Qualifications

Essential:

  • A degree in IT Systems, Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent experience
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development

  • ITIL Foundation Certificate in IT Service Management
