About the RoleWe're seeking a Business Development Manager to join our Partnerships and Acquisitions team. As a key member of our team, you'll advise our leadership on impactful investment decisions for high-profile energy projects. Your primary focus will be on managing early-stage acquisition opportunities and representing SSE externally with various stakeholders to source partnership opportunities.
Key Responsibilities- Market & Business Intelligence: Stay up-to-date on external business environment developments and key market trends to inform strategic decision-making.
- M&A Growth Strategy: Contribute to developing and refining SSE's inorganic growth strategy across key portfolio segments, including power generation, hydrogen production, and hydrogen storage.
- Deal Sourcing: Originate partnership and acquisition opportunities to deliver SSE's growth strategy and evaluate inbound processes for strategic fit.
- Opportunity Maturation: Lead on new business and commercial activities/projects, developing the investment case for opportunities up to the Non-Binding Offer stage.
- Transaction Due Diligence: Lead in the planning and delivery of opportunity Due Diligence, managing a multi-disciplinary team of subject matter experts.
- Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, engineering, or a related field with good commercial judgement and acumen.
- Excellent communication, influencing, and relationship skills with the ability to establish and manage individual business relationships with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to lead a multidisciplinary team through a well-managed process to produce and structure high-quality papers and presentations for senior executives.
- Collaborative working style with demonstrated ability to deliver results as part of a team and ability to regularly re-prioritise work, remaining organised and resilient in a fast-moving delivery environment.
