Finance Assistant Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Finance Assistant to join our team at Brackenberry Ltd. The successful candidate will work closely with a Local Authority in Newry, Mourne and Down to assist with the appointment of a Finance Assistant on a 6-month contract, with a high likelihood of extension.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain accurate and timely computerised debtors ledger, ensuring compliance with Council policy and Audit regulations.
  • Manage and reconcile bank lodgement files, providing assistance when required in preparation of same.
  • Reconcile and vouch bank accounts, Council Loans (receivable), Bank/Cash controls, and nominal ledger accounts.
  • Chase debt and provide reports to supervisor on debt collection processes undertaken.
  • Maintain debtors and issue invoices and credits to BIDS Company.

Requirements:

  • Grade C or above in at least 4 GCSES or equivalent qualification, including GCSE English Language and a numerate subject.
  • 2 years relevant experience in a Finance Department, including Accounts Receivable (Debtors)/ Accounts Payable (Creditors) or similar experience.
  • High level of competency in Microsoft office applications, especially Excel.

  • Candidates must be available to work immediately or at short notice.
  • Right to work in the U.K is required.
