About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Accounts Assistant to join our team at Ricardo. As an Accounts Assistant, you will play a key role in ensuring the smooth operation of our financial processes, including invoicing, credit control, and financial reporting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and process sales invoices, including compliance with VAT guidance.
  • Manage complex invoicing processes, including external and intercompany invoicing from overseas subsidiary companies.
  • Act as the escalation point for queries or issues with sales invoicing.
  • Ensure credit notes are approved in line with company policy.
  • Prepare monthly reporting on sales invoicing statistics for presentation to management, including analysis of credit notes raised and team performance vs KPIs.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to maximise the efficiency of the sales invoicing function.
  • Process purchase invoices within agreed guidance.
  • Process employee expenses and credit/purchase cards within agreed guidance.
  • Resolve queries from employees and suppliers and proactively deal with account discrepancies.
  • Support the preparation of weekly payment runs.
  • Prepare monthly reports, including PSA data, control account reconciliations, and analysis.

Key Competencies and Experience

  • Strong computer skills, especially within Excel and Outlook.
  • Experience of using accounting software.
  • Good knowledge of HMRC guidance on VAT.

Desirable Competencies and Experience

  • AAT Level 4 or equivalent.
  • Experience of Agresso/Unit 4 ERP and Microsoft Dynamics.
