About the Role:
Carrington West is seeking a highly skilled Highway Maintenance Engineer to join our team in Nottinghamshire. As a key member of our Highways, Transport & Infrastructure division, you will play a crucial role in delivering highway engineering projects and providing specialist engineering services to enhance and maintain the road network.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Delivery: Design and manage the delivery of highway-related construction and maintenance projects, ensuring quality, programme, and financial targets are met for internal and external clients and stakeholders.
- Specialist Advice: Provide technical and cost advice to internal and external clients to support the delivery of complex and large-scale projects across the organisation and as a standalone service.
- Engineering Scheme Evaluation: Manage the evaluation and authorisation of externally designed engineering schemes on behalf of internal and external clients, ensuring the highway asset meets regional and national design specifications and safety standards.
- Workflow Management: Collaborate with the Construction and Commercial Division to manage workflow and support the achievement of company business plan objectives for productivity and profit across design and build functions.
- Health and Safety: Adhere to Health and Safety management systems, processes, and requirements, ensuring full adherence to health, safety, and environmental legislation, policy, and best practice, and safeguarding staff, contractors, and members of the public.
- Client and Stakeholder Management: Manage consultation, communication, and liaison with clients and a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, including members of the public and elected Members, to facilitate project delivery and maintain a positive company reputation.
Requirements:
- Education and Experience: Degree in Civil Engineering or a related subject and post-qualification relevant experience or equivalent knowledge gained through practical experience in a highway and/or civil engineering design environment.
- ICT Skills: Strong ICT skills, including competence in specialist computer applications used to support engineering design activities, including working knowledge of computer-aided design and knowledge of data management environments.
- Design Standards and Procedures: Working knowledge of current highway and civil engineering design standards, contracts, and procedures.
- Legislation and Good Practice: Knowledge of health and safety, technical, traffic management, and other legislation and good practice appropriate to highway and civil engineering construction and maintenance activities.
- Communication and Collaboration: Experience in providing information, communicating, and working collaboratively with internal and external customers, stakeholders, and colleagues to achieve delivery objectives.
- Project Implementation: Experience in all stages of project implementation from feasibility to construction on site.
- Driving Licence: Full UK driving licence.
