Finance Assistant Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and organized Finance Assistant to join our team at Splendid Communications. As a key member of our finance team, you will be responsible for providing financial management and control support to the business.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Process invoices and expenses, including fortnightly payment runs
  • Manage client billing and debt chasing
  • Perform bank reconciliations and update the weekly cashflow forecast
  • Assist with month-end tasks, including fixed assets and depreciation, accruals and prepayments
  • Monitor overhead expenditure using house job budgets
  • Train non-finance staff to use financial software and deal with general queries
  • Manage the timesheet process, including monitoring and chasing missing time
  • Provide ad-hoc financial support as required throughout the business
Future Development:

Opportunities to take on more responsibilities within the finance function, including sales ledger and management accounting tasks

Study support towards an accounting qualification, such as AAT or ACCA

Requirements:
  • Basic but solid accountancy background, either from a relevant degree or at least 1 year of relevant work experience
  • Good working knowledge of MS Office software, including Excel, Word and Outlook
  • Personal qualities: good numeracy skills, able to communicate clearly and professionally, bright, self-motivated, fast-learner, well-organized and good at prioritizing, thorough approach, good attention to detail, good team player, friendly and outgoing personality
  • Qualifications: minimum of 5 GCSEs A*-C including Maths and English or equivalent qualifications
